Forex – Dollar remains broadly higher, Comey in focus

The dollar remained broadly higher against the other major currencies on Thursday, despite the release of disappointing U.S. jobless claims data as investors turned their attention to former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony to a Senate committee.
Mr. Comey began his testimony by saying that, while he understood he “could be fired by a president for any reason or no reason at all,” he was confused and concerned by the White House’s shifting explanations of his firing. EUR/USD slid 0.33% to 1.1218 after the European Central Bank cuts its forecast for inflation this year to 1.5%, down from 1.7% in March. The forecast came after the central bank left interest rates unchanged in a widely expected move. In the U.S., the Department of Labor said initial jobless claims in the week ending June 3 decreased by 10,000 to 245,000 from the previous week’s total of 255,000. Analysts expected jobless claims to fall by 15,000 to 240,000 last week. GBP/USD fell 0.28% to 1.2923. Polls on the eve of the U.K. election indicated that Prime Minister Theresa May will win the vote and increase her parliamentary majority. USD/JPY gained 0.34% to 110.19, while USD/CHF rose 0.25% to trade at 0.9679. The Australian dollar was lower, with AUD/USD down 0.11% at 0.7543, while NZD/USD gained 0.29% to 0.7217. The Australian Bureau of Statistics earlier reported that the trade surplus narrowed to A$0.555 billion in April from A$3.169 billion in March, whose figure was revised from a previously estimated surplus of A$3.107 billion. Analysts had expected the trade surplus to narrow to A$1.950 billion in April. A separate report showed that China’s exports rose by an annualized rate of 8.7% in May, exceeding expectations for a 7.0% climb, while imports jumped 14.8%, blowing past projections for an increase of 8.5%. China is Australia’s biggest export partner. Meanwhile, USD/CAD held steady at 1.3501. The U.S. dollar index, which measures the greenback’s strength against a trade-weighted basket of six major currencies, was up 0.32% at 96.98, the highest since June 2.

Been on Single Bet Calculator for about four months now, mainly on my phone during the commute, so make of that what you will. Their lobby’s genuinely big — about 2,000 games last time I looked, with the big names present: NetEnt, Yggdrasil, Microgaming. Sweet Bonanza and Book of Dead are my usual go-to, though the Yggdrasil titles have been kinder to me.
Their sign-up deal is 100% up to ?200 and 100 free spins, and you’re looking at wagering of 30x which is fair enough for the UK market. Honestly, it took me longer than I’d have liked — you’ve got a week to use them, which felt tight. There’s a small no deposit thing too — about ?5 when you complete KYC, small, but I’ll take it.
Live section is where I actually spend most of my time. Evolution’s the provider, meaning you’ve got actual dealers, a fair few blackjack and roulette tables, and the game shows — Crazy Time being the obvious one. Never had a stream drop on me, which some sites still can’t manage. Worth a look at the up-to-date terms at Double Bet Calculator before you deposit.
Getting money out of Single Bet Calculator land faster than I expected — Skrill came back in about a day for me, card withdrawals took closer to three days. You’ve got the usual cards, Skrill, Neteller, plus crypto, minimum’s ?10. Verification was the annoying bit — they wanted a utility bill and nobody chased it until I did.
Took maybe three minutes to open the account, they hold a UK licence with all the safer gambling tools baked in. There’s no dedicated app, it’s a browser thing and honestly I don’t miss it. Support at Single Bet Calculator runs round the clock, but you’ll wrestle with an automated agent before a human shows up. The actual agents knew what they were doing.
Been using Single Bet Calculator for a good few months, usually in the evenings after work, so this is just my experience. The game selection is properly stacked — somewhere around 2,500 slots by my count, and the usual suspects in there: NetEnt, Big Time Gaming, NetEnt. Sweet Bonanza and Book of Dead are my usual go-to, though the Yggdrasil titles have been kinder to me.
Their sign-up deal is 100% up to ?500 with 100 spins, and you’re looking at wagering of 35x on the bonus. Not gonna lie, I nearly didn’t clear it — you’ve got 7 days to use them, which felt tight. They do a little no deposit bit as well — about ?10 for verifying your account, nothing life-changing but free is free.
I’d say the live side is the stronger half. Evolution’s the provider, meaning you’ve got actual dealers, loads of roulette and blackjack seats, and the game shows — Crazy Time being the obvious one. Quality’s been steady even on mobile data, which is more than I can say for a couple of other sites. You can see what’s running right now over on Double Bet Calculator before you deposit.
Getting money out of Single Bet Calculator have been quick enough — e-wallet took around 6 hours for me, Visa took 2-3 working days. You’ve got the usual cards, Skrill, Neteller, plus crypto, deposits start at ?20. The KYC held me up the first time — passport and proof of address and it sat there two days.
Took maybe three minutes to open the account, they hold a UK licence so the usual deposit limits and reality checks are there. They don’t do a native app, but the site scales fine on Android and iOS and honestly I don’t miss it. Customer service on Single Bet Calculator answers within a few minutes usually, but you’ll wrestle with an automated agent before a human shows up. Human staff sorted my query in one go.
